Usually, Championship Weekend is a lot of fun and features a lot of quarterfinal matchups that have national title implications. There are certainly some this weekend but not as much as usual. Here's what you need to know heading into Saturday.
Here are the current teams that are in the playoff.
1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Clemson
4. Washington
Washington won emphatically over Colorado on Friday night to clinch their first Pac-12 title since the millenium and have all but wrapped up their spot in the playoff.
The talk this week about Alabama is that even though they have a conference title game against Florida, they probably would get into the playoff even if they took a loss.
Ohio State definitely will be in by the looks of it, they'll be watching Championship Weekend at home since they lost to Penn State and didn't qualify for the Big Ten Title Game as a result.
Then there's Clemson. Dabo Swinney's squad definitely will need to beat Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game and if they don't, chaos will likely ensue and the teams at 5, 6, 7 will have a chance to enter the playoff.
All in all, it's a light slate of games on Saturday but there's still some games that you definitely have to see.

#10 Oklahoma State vs #9 Oklahoma (-11.0)
The game they call "Bedlam." The Big 12 is one of the only conferences in college football without a championship game (though that will change next year). However, this is basically a Big 12 Championship Game with the winner getting a nice trophy, bragging rights, and marquee New Year's Day Bowl. This game is definitely a rivalry game but it's probably one of the most lopsided when you look at the all-time records. Right now, the Oklahoma Sooners lead the OK State Cowboys 85-18-7 and there have been periods where the Sooners have just flat out dominated the Cowboys. For example, from 1977-1994 the Sooners never lost to the Cowboys. Most of that period was due to Barry Switzer's tenure with OU as he went 15-1 against their in-state rivals. Luckily for OK State fans and neutral observers, OK State's largest donor, T. Boone Pickens has brought in a lot of money to their athletic departmen and now the Cowboys are able to close the gap a little bit against their big brothers. Since 1995, the Sooners have led the series 14-7, at least the gap has closed a little bit. Unfortunately for Cowboys fans, the last few Bedlam games have cost the Cowboys a shot at national title glory and that has given creedence to the moniker of Chokie State labeled on OK State.
Talking about the game, you certainly have a lot to look at, good quarterbacks, successful coaches, and solid skill position players. It should be a shootout with the total being placed at 76, so enjoy this start to your Saturday.

#15 Florida Gators vs #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (-24.0) CBS
I'm not sure why I even put this game on here, the game doesn't mean a whole lot and it will likely be a blowout. The inagural SEC Championship Game was between these teams in 1992 and since then, seven more times with this game being the 9th meeting between the two teams to decide the SEC. Here's the most remarkable stat: Alabama's defense has not allowed a touchdown since October 24th, we'll see if Florida can change that at all. The only way Florida has a chance is if Bama lacks the focus for this game but I don't see that happening. I would just check the score of this game and see if it gets interesting.
My Pick: Alabama covers easily.
5:00 Slot
#6 Wisconsin Badgers (-3.0) vs #7 Penn State Nittany Lions FOX
This is the slot you want to be watching games in. You've got the two games that mean something in the big picture but the only problem is you have to decide which one do you want to watch. If only they put one of these 5:00 games in the 12:30 slot to evenly distribute the games, but that's okay. If any chaos ensues, one of these teams will probably be the one to take advantage, it may get fun if Clemson starts losing. Both of these teams have been nice stories an it should be a very competitive game.
My Pick: Penn State OUTRIGHT.
Backup: #23 Virginia Tech Hokies vs #3 Clemson Tigers (-10.5) ABC
Even if you're not watching this game, make sure that you see the score at all times, know when it's time to stop paying attention or flip over to it. Virginia Tech has a shot to create chaos and we'll see if they can get it done. Keep an eye on Clemson's quarterback DeShaun Watson who needs to get back to the level we saw from him last season.

Week 13: Rivalry Week
It's been several weeks since I last did one of these and I think it's time to talk about what's at stake for this final week of college football before the conference championships that will take place next weekend.
The College Football Playoff's current top four are the following:
1. Alabama (clinched SEC West, will play Florida in SEC title game next Saturday)
2. Ohio State (likely will make playoff with a win against Michigan, even without going to the Big Ten Title game)
3. Michigan (Would clinch playoff with a win vs Ohio State and winning the Big Ten title game next weekend)
4. Clemson (Clinched the ACC Coastal Division, will play Virginia Tech next weekend, clinches playoff if they win out)
And here are the teams on outside looking in:
5. Washington (who won today to clinch the Pac-12 North to play in next week's Pac-12 Title Game)
6. Wisconsin (Who clinched the Big Ten Title Game with Iowa beating Nebraska this morning)
7. Penn State (Who clinch the Big Ten Title Game with a win vs Michigan State, and a Michigan loss to Ohio State)
8. Oklahoma (Clinch the Big 12 with a win against OK State next weekend)

For years, this rivalry has been dubbed one of the best in all of college football, if not in all of sports. Quite frankly, I don't exactly agree with that statement, in my lifetime, the rivalry has been good at times but for the most part, only Ohio State has been good while Michigan has been mediocre and my belief has always been that a rivalry is only good when both teams are good. And you can look it up, but this is the first time since 2005 where "The Game," has had real national title implications. With that said, it looks like Michigan's starting quarterback, Wilton Speight probably won't play because of an injured non-throwing shoulder. Jim Harbaugh insists that he might start, but I don't believe a word he says, if I'm being honest. And quite frankly, Michigan is led by their running game with De'Veon Smith so that's where Michigan is going to win the game if they are at all.
Both teams saw their undefeated seasons end thanks to a couple road games that took a wrong turn (vs Iowa for Michigan, and vs Penn State for Ohio State). There's going to be a lot of talent on the field for both teams, look no further than Jabrill Peppers for Michigan who will do everything for them, and for Ohio State look for Curtis Samuel.
I just love that this game is on right when I'll be waking up.

Backup: Kentucky Wildcats @ #11 Louisville Cardinals (-26.5) ESPN
There's absolutely no reason to switch over from Michigan/Ohio State, but if you must, check out this rivalry game that's a much better basketball game than it is a football game but it still prevents an interesting matchup. Both teams can score, and Lamar Jackson will look to have a big game to try and get himself back into the Heisman front runner position. This game would've meant more if Louisville hadn't lost to Houston last week, but that's way it goes.

They call it "The Iron Bowl," and I believe it is the greatest rivalry in college football as well as the greatest in all of American sports. While Michigan/Ohio State is the trendy pick for that title, to me that's like saying Red Sox/Yankees is the best rivalry in MLB. Yes, that rivalry was good 12 years ago, but since then, the rivalry hasn't exactly meant much. While to me, Alabama/Auburn is like the Giants/Dodgers, every year it means something with the game usually having SEC title implications and even national title implications. In the modern era, Alabama/Auburn has been much better than Michigan/Ohio State thanks to things like "The Drive," "The Cam Back," and "The Kick Six" which define the things that make college football the greatest sport on the planet. The states that don't have pro teams just have better rivalries and Alabama fits that description. This game should've been yet another Iron Bowl that decided the SEC East but then Auburn played a real stinker of a game on the road against Georgia and allowed Alabama to clinch a spot in Atlanta next week. Make no mistake about it, this game is still a huge one, especially with both teams carrying so much talent all over th field. One thing to look at is how Alabama's freshman QB Jalen Hurts does against a stingy Auburn defense.
With Alabama playing at such a high level, this could very well turn into a blowout but to me, the Iron Bowl aesthetically in Tuscaloosa is always worth everyone's undivided attention.
My Pick: Alabama wins big.

I picked this game because there's stakes on the line, like I said before, Penn State needs to win and needs Michigan to lose in order to get into the Big Ten Title game and keep their hopes of making the College Football Playoff alive. Michigan State nearly upset the Buckeyes in Lansing last week when they decided to go for two late in the game and didn't get it. It should be a tight Big Ten contest.

#22 Utah Utes @ #9 Colorado Buffaloes (-9.5) FOX
Another game that would've been more hyped if one of the teams hadn't lost last week. This game should've been a Pac-12 South title game but thanks to Utah losing to Oregon last week in the final seconds, that is no longer in the stakes and USC is the beneficiary. This game is easily the biggest game in Boulder in 20 years, it's been a long time since the Buffs were relevant when it came to the sport of football and it's hard not to pull for them in this game. Both teams have quarterbacks that are intriguing dual threat prospects that should make this a fun one for the neutral. USC will likely be watching closely since they need the Utes to spring the upset in order for the Trojans to be slingshotted into next week's Pac-12 title game in Levi's for a neutral site rematch against the Washington Huskies.
My Pick: Colorado wins, but I'm taking the points.

Oh, what could've been. Another game that should've had more implications than it actually does, but this in-state rivalry should be another game for proverbial first round pick, Dalvin Cook. If you didn't already know, Dalvin Cook is my favorite running back that will be in the 2017 Draft Class, he's got the vision, the versatility, and elusiveness to succeed at the next level. Check out his highlights against Clemson from a few weeks ago, he's something special.

Week 7: Looks like the Television Networks Didn't Do Us Any Favors
Now into week 7, we have a pretty good idea about who we should pay attention to and who we should just keep an eye on as they fade into the darkness. There aren't a lot of great games this week, so I've totally cut out the 9 am slot, just sleep in, it's a good idea this Saturday.

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (-13.5) @ #9 Tennessee Volunteers CBS
This game doesn't need a lot of hype. It's a SEC rivalry game and it just so happens to be Alabama's biggest road test of the season to date. Neyland Stadium will be rocking for this game since this is the first time Tennessee has the talent to really compete with Alabama in several years. The experts have Alabama as a two touchdown favorite and that's probably because Tennessee comes in a little undermanned in this one after so many crazy games. Tennessee finally dropped one of those games of the year last week in College Station and if they lose this game they'll lose control over their own destiny in SEC East and will need Florida to lose another game in order to get to Atlanta. There's a good chance that these two teams will play again in Atlanta but it should be a great one. One thing to consider is that Tennessee has highest turnover margin against FBS opponents and unfortunately for them, Alabama's defense feasts on turnovers. Another problem for Tennessee is that their offensive line is a clear mismatch against Alabama's vicious front, and if that's the case, it could be a long day for Josh Dobbs. Alabama's freshman QB Jalen Hurts had a huge game against Arkansas last week, we'll see if that continues against a much more talented defense this week.
My Prediction: Alabama covers.
Backup: North Carolina Tar Heels @ #16 Miami Hurricanes (-6.5) ABC/ESPN2
Miami lost to their rivals FSU on a blocked extra point last week, let's see how good the Canes really are as they welcome UNC to the 305. UNC fell out of the top 25 last week after getting blown out by Virginia Tech at home in a monsoon game at the hands of Hurricane Matthew. This came the week after UNC pulled off a huge upset at FSU on a game-winning field goal. I think last week's game was a fluke and I think UNC has a great shot to pull off the upset over the Canes. Either way, it should be a pretty solid game to find out more about both teams.
My Prediction: North Carolina wins outright.

I've been hammering Wisconsin saying that they really aren't that good. And so far, they've been hanging in there, with the exception of a low scoring loss to Michigan in Ann Arbor. Now they have a chance to make me look foolish as they host the Baby Buckeyes in Madison. So far, the Baby Buckeyes have looked quite impressive in just about every game they play, and they have JT Barrett at the helm who continues to put up gaudy numbers. This could very well be a boring defensive slugfest and if that's the case switch onto the backup.
My pick: Ohio State covers because they don't lose on the road.
4 pm: Backup: #12 Ole Miss Rebels (-7.5) @ #22 Arkansas Razorbacks ESPN
This is a solid alternative, on the other side you have a game that could be a boring defensive slugfest and on this side, you have a battle between two of the best gunslingers in the SEC in Chad Kelly and Austin Allen going at it. I would start with this game at 4 pm and then if the game is solid, stick with it until the end and then once the game is over you can catch the end of Wisconsin/Ohio State if that's not a blowout. Both of these teams have two losses on the year and each of them have lost to Alabama, it's not easy playing Alabama every year. Ole Miss is coming off of a bye week, and it happened to be an eventful one where Chad "Swag" Kelly ran onto a high school field to defend his brother, it's not the first time Chad Kelly has done something dumb and it will never be the last.
My Prediction: Arkansas with the points.
Pac-12 After Dark

UCLA Bruins @ Washington State Cougars (-7.5)
Before the season started, this game was expected to be a lot more important, but as it stands now, it just looks like an entertaining game and that's really all it is. With that said, it's definitely a must win for both schools, with cross-state rival Washington rampaging on all Pac-12 schools, Washington State needs to win out going into the Apple Cup game in order to have a chance to steal the Pac-12 North crown. UCLA on the other hand, needs a win to stay in the hunt of the dumpster fire known as the Pac-12 South. One thing to keep in mind is that the game is in Pullman, Washington and now that this game is in the middle of October, there's a possibility of some bad weather. In the past, Pullman has known to be a tough place to play and we'll see if that is the case in this game. One last thing, UCLA's quarterback Josh Rosen (who's a guy that the NFL scouts are drooling over) is questionable for this game, if he can't go that takes the luster out of this game. With Rosen, this is a game featuring two of the best quarterbacks in the Pac-12 with him and Luke Falk. We'll see if some Pac-12 After Dark craziness takes over, but it should be a solid way to end the day.
My Prediction: Washington State covers.

Week 5: I'm Running Out Of Creative Titles
Depending on when I do this, I don't usually include the Thursday or Friday matchups but now that the Friday night matchup is over with Washington battering Stanford to insert themselves into the CFB Playoff conversation and effectively ending Stanford's title hopes, I figure it's worth nothing. Washington looks to be the new power in the Pac-12, with Oregon having a down year and since they've knocked off Stanford, they're now in the driver's seat to win the Pac-12 title and beat whoever comes out of that Pac-12 South dumpster fire. Here's the preview for your college football Saturday, there's a nice blend of good conference matchups and a big one that is pretty much a college football quarterfinal (though it's a little early to call it that).

#22 Texas Longhorns @ Oklahoma State (-1.5) ESPN
I must say, this year's 9:00 am slot games have been quite solid to start the year. Usually, they have been mere appetizers. While this year we've had marquee matchups and just pure fun ones that get you even more excited for the rest of the day's matchups. In this one, you have a couple of high scoring offenses that should put up some points but in general, these teams shouldn't decide anything in the Big 12 this season but you never know, since the Big 12 has been pure chaos this year with no teams grabbing the brass ring as that top team in the conference. Texas is a team that's still figuring things out while Oklahoma State is a team that's playing below expectations, but it should be fun, given the last couple of meetings between these teams. During the week in Stillwater, Oklahoma, there was a report that said that Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy was not on speaking terms with T. Boone Pickens. Who's T. Boone Pickens? Some really rich guy who has given Oklahoma State so much money that the OK State football stadium is named after him. If you had a Jeopardy! category called "Famous University Donors," I'm sure that T. Boone Pickens would be involved in that.

Backup (but not really a backup): #14 Miami Hurricanes (-7.5) @ Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets ESPN2
I wouldn't call this a backup, I'd say both of these games are equal in terms of how good they can be. I'd say just go with the one that ends up being the better game and stick with it. I like this game because of the possibility of Georgia Tech providing their annual upset since they always seem to beat one team, and I'm intrigued by this Miami team since they're sneakily undefeated. I expect Miami to roll, but you never know.

#8 Wisconsin Badgers @ #4 Michigan Wolverines (-11.0) ABC
All year I've been showing Wisconsin no respect, and with the point spread, it looks like Las Vegas agrees with me. Well, here's their chance to earn their stripes as they head to Ann Arbor to face Jim Harbaugh's squad in front of 110,000 fans at the Big House. Michigan is a team that hasn't really been tested this year, but they've looked impressive most of the time in their victories against inferior opposition. The man to watch in this game is Jabrill Peppers, he'll be everywhere on defense and he'll be returning punts, he's definitely going to be a first round pick in next year's draft and his on-field speed is startling when you see it. I'm not sure Wisconsin has the offensive firepower to trouble Michigan, but their defense seems legit through the first few weeks of the season. This game will likely decide who's going to be the team that challenges Ohio State for the Big Ten championship.

Backup: #11 Tennessee Volunteers (-3.5) @ #25 Georgia Bulldogs CBS
This one's the SEC Game of the Week and it's a solid jersey combination as this game will likely lock things up for Tennessee in the SEC East. This game would've been a much bigger game if Georgia had beaten Ole Miss last week, but instead, they were blown out by 30 points and instead Georgia fans have been taken back down to earth by their young team. Tennesee, on the other hand made their statement in a huge way. And that was all done by scoring 35 straight 2nd half points to shock the Florida Gators and end the 11 losing streak they had running against the Gators. In that one-half of football, Tennesee finally lived up to the expectations that many had thrown onto them before the season started and here they are, undefeated and heading to Athens, Georgia trying to lock up the SEC East for the first time since 2007. I love any big game in Athens because it means I get to say, "Between the Hedges," as much as I want. And this is in reference to Georgia's stadium which has a hedge surrounding the field. It's a really unique stadium that has featured a lot of great game over the years. Looking at the quarterbacks, Tennessee has a senior in Josh Dobbs, while Georgia has a true freshman in Jacob Eason. Josh Dobbs has struggled all year if you leave out the second half of the Florida game, while Jacob Eason has shown moments of brilliance that remind everyone why he was the number one recruit in college football last season. It'll be interesting to see if that second half Tennessee team was real or just a fluke because that will likely dictate how good this Tennessee team really is. One thing to note is that Georgia's star running back Nick Chubb is out for this game with an injury.

Oklahoma Sooners (-3.5) @ #21 TCU Horned Frogs FOX
Usually, there aren't any compelling games at a time like 2:00 since the networks don't like to put games up against the 12:30 games but here's a notable one as Oklahoma heads to Fort Worth for an important Big 12 matchup. I honestly was surprised to learn that Oklahoma is now unranked, but I guess the voters are going to punish a team that loses two of its first three games and then go into a bye week. Granted, those two losses came up against two teams that are now in the top 10, but I guess the voters don't care. Like everyone in the Big 12 except Baylor both these teams took at least one loss in their non-conference games, for TCU, they lost to Arkansas in an OT thriller, while Oklahoma lost to Houston and Ohio State. This game should have important implications for the Big 12 championship, the winner will likely play Baylor for the Big 12 title later on in the season. The two quarterbacks are quite interesting themselves, Baker Mayfield for Oklahoma was a guy who many believed would become a Heisman frontrunner but with the losses early in the season, that has gone out the window, I'm waiting for him to live up to the level of what he did last year but we'll see. Kenny Hill has a similar skill set to Mayfield but he's a better runner while Mayfield is the better passer. Both of these quarterbacks are transfers from other Texas schools, Mayfield walked on at Texas Tech and then transferred to OU, while Hill was at Texas A&M and took over for Johnny Manziel, and then Hill got into some issues later in his sophomore season which saw him suspended and even arrested for public intoxication in the offseason, all of that would lead to his departure from A&M and a transfer to Fort Worth. This will be a good game to watch if all the 12:30 games turn into stinkers (the other 12:30 game to look out for is Florida State/North Carolina).

What a great matchup this is going to be. I'll start with the atmosphere, this game will be played at Death Valley, and it's where ranked teams go to die. Clemson even has a graveyard to commemorate every single win that Clemson has had against a ranked team. And at Death Valley, you have one of the greatest entrances in all of sports. And that's just the intangibles, this game has a tremendous quarterback battle between two Heisman frontrunners in Louisville's Lamar Jackson and Clemson's DeShaun Watson. Lamar Jackson has 25 total touchdowns this season, which is already a college football record for this point of the season. He has gone Madden 04 Michael Vick on all of his competition, especially against Florida State when they bullwhipped the Seminoles 63-20. DeShaun Watson, on the other hand hasn't put up the crazy numbers that everyone expected after last year's season but we all know what he's capable of. I don't think I need to say any more about what's at stake in this game, I think it will basically be a quarterfinal matchup in the college football playoffs but it is a little early and there are some big games left on the schedule for both teams. This game will also probably decide which way the Heisman race goes into depending on who has the better game between Watson and Jackson. Clemson's defense could be the difference in this one, and we'll see if they're the unit that can slow down Lamar Jackson.

Arizona nearly played spoiler to Washington last week before losing in Overtime, and this week they play UCLA who are coming off a heartbreaking loss to Stanford that has killed the buzz on their season. With how the Pac-12 South is, everything is up for grabs but this should be a nice game to finish up before bed after the Clemson/Louisville game ends.

Week 4: Big Conference Games
After another week of big games, we're starting to see the teams that we should be paying attention to (Ohio State, Alabama, Louisville) and the teams that are simply not going to play a part in the College Football Playoff (Oklahoma, Florida State, Ole Miss). This week is when some of the bigger conference games take place and we get more of an idea of how these conferences are going to shape up.
9:00 am Slot
#12 Georgia Bulldogs @ #23 Ole Miss Rebels (-7.0) ESPN
Ole Miss has seemingly eliminated themselves from the College Football Playoff after blowing three touchdown leads to Alabama and Florida State in weeks one and three, the good news for Hugh Freeze's squad is that the schedule has to get easier for them but it doesn't get much easier in this week as they welcome Kirby Smart's young and talented Georgia Bulldogs. I'm not sure this game has as much conference implications as the other game in this timeslot, but I'm picking this game as the one to watch just because it will be a more entertaining game. It will be an interesting matchup between Ole Miss' QB Chad "Swag" Kelly and Georgia's super freshman Jacob Eason. This game should have a lot of points and blow away the over/under of 62. If Georgia wins, they'll put themselves in a position to be the other team to beat in the SEC East, with the decider of that division likely coming from Georgia vs the winner of the Tennessee/ Florida game that will take place later today. Ole Miss on the other hand, can only win out and see if they can get themselves a New Year's Day Bowl since their chances of going to the SEC Championship game went up in smoke after their loss to Alabama last Saturday.
My Pick: Georgia with the points. Ole Miss wins, but a backdoor cover will likely be in play here.

This is a game that the pre-season prognosticators didn't think would be as big of a game as it's going to be. If they did, this game would've received the respect of being on network television but instead it's on digital television and unfortunately, many people won't be able to watch this game. This game will decide who's in that next tier in the Big Ten Conference behind the likes of Ohio State and Michigan. The team who wins this game will be the one that can run the football effectively since both defenses are averaging under 100 yards rushing allowed. I honestly think that Wisconsin is not a great team and that they were pumped up way too much by polls just because they beat an overrated LSU team in week one. Since then, Wisconsin has had a close call with Georgia State and the Badgers have made a quarterback change. This is the week I think that Wisconsin will get exposed.
My pick: Michigan State convincingly.

Who will be the team to beat in the SEC East? This game should decide it. Both teams come into this game undefeated but both teams have a lot of questions, especially at the quarterback position. Florida's quarterback Luke Del Rio went down last week so the Gators will be starting senior quarterback and Purdue transfer, Austin Appleby which may be the early favorite for the best name of the year. Tennessee was supposed to look a lot better than they have through three games, as the preseason SEC East favorite, they've looked lost on offense and out of ideas which shouldn't happen with a senior quarterback like Josh Dobbs. Much of the blame for Tennessee's performance has been laid at the hands of their offensive line who hasn't given Dobbs enough time to make the throws he's capable of making. Unfortunately, Tennessee's offensive line will have to deliver against a beast front seven for the Gators. In fact, the defensive fronts for both teams will be the units to watch in this game. This is probably the biggest game for Tennessee in almost a decade and Neyland Stadium should approach the craziness that it was in the late 90s and early 2000s where 100,000 orange-clad Tennessee fans singing Rocky Top usually meant a Vols victory. In this series, it has been the Gators who have won 11 in a row against the Vols, so for the sake of the rivalry, a Tennessee win is needed.
My Pick: Florida with the points. I think that's just too many points for me to pick the Vols, I don't see a lot of scoring in this one so I'll go with the Gators.
Backup: Penn State Nittany Lions @ #4 Michigan Wolverines (-18.0) ABC
It's pretty slim pickings other than the Florida/Tennessee game for this time slot, but if you must, check out this game and see if Penn State can make a game of it against Jim Harbaugh's young Wolverines.

#17 Arkansas Razorbacks vs #10 Texas A&M Aggies (-6.0) at Jerryworld ESPN
I realize there's a big whole in my guide, but quite honestly there aren't a lot of matchups that are too appealing in the late afternoon slate. Sure, maybe check out the LSU/Auburn game but I don't think it's such a mouth watering contest like this one is. My plan will be to watch the first hour of Stanford/UCLA at 5 and then switch over to this one. The last two meetings between these two teams have produced back to back overtime games that have both gone to the Aggies. For whatever reason, these teams just seem to produce classic games. And after the first few weeks, there are things to like about both teams. After Arkansas beat TCU in Fort Worth, I became sold on them, and after A&M beat UCLA and Auburn they convinced me as well. So I'm just going to sit back and enjoy what has the makings of another classic matchup. This game will likely represent who Alabama will have to get through if they are to make it to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game.

California Golden Bears @ Arizona State Sun Devils (-4.0) ESPN2
This game will also act as a backup to the Arkansas/A&M game with the thinking being that if A&M and Arkansas becomes a stinker, the Cal/ASU game should be about to start and should be a good substitute. This game should have a lot of points and just a bunch of craziness. That's why the Pac-12 After Dark slot is such a fun way to end your College Football Saturday. Both teams can score and have defenses that can't stop nose bleeds and that's why I'm all over the over of 82 for this game.

#17 Arkansas Razorbacks vs #10 Texas A&M Aggies (-6.0) at Jerryworld ESPN
I realize there's a big whole in my guide, but quite honestly there aren't a lot of matchups that are too appealing in the late afternoon slate. Sure, maybe check out the LSU/Auburn game but I don't think it's such a mouth watering contest like this one is. My plan will be to watch the first hour of Stanford/UCLA at 5 and then switch over to this one. The last two meetings between these two teams have produced back to back overtime games that have both gone to the Aggies. For whatever reason, these teams just seem to produce classic games. And after the first few weeks, there are things to like about both teams. After Arkansas beat TCU in Fort Worth, I became sold on them, and after A&M beat UCLA and Auburn they convinced me as well. So I'm just going to sit back and enjoy what has the makings of another classic matchup. This game will likely represent who Alabama will have to get through if they are to make it to Atlanta for the SEC Championship game.

Pac-12 After Dark Slot 7:00 pm
California Golden Bears @ Arizona State Sun Devils (-4.0) ESPN2
This game will also act as a backup to the Arkansas/A&M game with the thinking being that if A&M and Arkansas becomes a stinker, the Cal/ASU game should be about to start and should be a good substitute. This game should have a lot of points and just a bunch of craziness. That's why the Pac-12 After Dark slot is such a fun way to end your College Football Saturday. Both teams can score and have defenses that can't stop nose bleeds and that's why I'm all over the over of 82 for this game.

Week 3: Another Mega Weekend
The college football season is trying to outdo themselves once again with a tremendous slate of contests that are worth all your attention, let's take a look.
9:00 am Slot
#2 Florida State Seminoles (-1.0) @ #10 Louisville Cardinals ABC
Is there any better thing to wake up to than a top 10 matchup? I'm just surprised that the television powers that be allowed such a mammoth game to occupy time slot like the 9 am PST/noon EST where it's mostly just filler games. Not so today, this one will undoubtedly have national playoff implications with the loser likely facing elimination. In this game, you have three of the most exciting players in all of college football playing on the same field, so expect some fireworks. For Louisville, everything revolves around their quarterback, Lamar Jackson. Jackson has piled up 13 total touchdowns against not the greatest of opposition (Syracuse, Charlotte), but it's still impressive nonetheless. Check out his highlights from the game against Syracuse, it's a thing of beauty, especially that hurdling of a defender. Let's see how Jackson performs against a Seminole defense that will be without one of the best safeties in the country, Derwin James.
On the FSU side of things, the quarterback and the running back will get the headlines heading into this game. Florida State galvanized their preseason hype with their amazing comeback against Ole Miss in week one, that was the game that their freshman QB announced to the nation who he is. When you drop over 400 yards on a SEC defense like Ole Miss, everyone's going to remember the name of Deondre Francois. When teams try to stop their Heisman Trophy candidate, running back Dalvin Cook, Deondre Francois will punish them. If Francois brings in another performance of that quality, expect his Heisman candidacy to be elevated. I'm a big Dalvin Cook guy, so keep an eye on how he does against this Louisville defense that hasn't been tested this season on the ground.

Backup Plan: #25 Miami Hurricanes (-3.5) @ Appalachian State Mountaineers ESPN
An old powerhouse meeting a classic upstart, underdog. This is a pretty solid backup plan if you ask me. Appalachian State started their season by nearly beating Tennessee in Knoxville, let's see how good this App State team is as they face Mark Richt's young squad led by Brad Kaaya at QB. If App State can pull off the upset, there's a good chance that they never lose another game this season and make a major bowl come January. The funny story behind this game is that Miami did not want to schedule this game, they only scheduled a home and away against App State because of a scheduling error and because of that, Miami will make a rare trip to Boone, North Carolina. Let's see how the local fans in Boone treat this huge game.

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide (-10.5) @ #19 Ole Miss Rebels CBS
The SEC game of the week brings in a matchup that had Nick Saban circling his calendar six months ago. Here's what's on the line, Ole Miss is trying to beat Alabama for third straight season, Hugh Freeze has been the only SEC coach to get any recent success against the Tide and that's a credit to the great recruiting that Ole Miss has put together over the past couple years. Nick Saban has called his team out in his pressers and it's seemingly an attempt to get them focused ahead of this huge matchup in Oxford. The question is, which Ole Miss team will show up? They played so well in the first half against Florida State, that I immediately thought that the Rebels could give the Tide some trouble but then the Seminoles got their act together and punished Ole Miss with a tremendous second half comeback. For Ole Miss to have any chance in this game, they'll have to give their QB Chad Kelly time to throw and that will be a challenge against Alabama's extremely fast and powerful front seven.
For Alabama, much has been said about Alabama's lack of a true bell cow running back, however I'm of the belief that much of that talk is a bunch of noise since Bama's opponent last week, Western Kentucky stacked the box with 8 defenders and basically begged Alabama to go to the air, and Bama's true freshman QB, Jalen Hurts did just that, utilizing all of his great receivers. The big matchup for Alabama will be exploiting the Ole Miss secondary that will be without their best cover corner, Ken Webster. Expect Alabama to run the ball with the thunder and lighting of Harris and Scarbrough, but once Lane Kiffin gets a feel, he'll go the air and try to find his great receiving corps.
The Grove should be in rare form for this game, as it always is. Boy, do I love SEC football.
My Pick: Alabama wins, Ole Miss with the backdoor cover.
Backup Plan: #22 Oregon Ducks @ Nebraska Cornhuskers (-3.0) ABC
Do you want points? We got them, bitches. The over/under for this game is 75 and the gamblers expect these teams to obliterate that threshold on the turf in Lincoln. Neither team has been tested this year, so this is the game where we'll find out some valuable information about both teams. Granted both teams played the likes of Virginia, UC Davis, Wyoming, and Fresno State but the points allowed per game category is what stood out for me, Oregon is giving up 27.0 points per game, while the Huskers are yielding 13.5. That's not to say that Oregon is worse on defense than Nebraska, it's probably closer to a push, but this game has toss-up written all over it. There are three things I can guarantee about this game, one: there will be a lot of points, two: Oregon running back Royce Freeman will run for lots of yards, and Nebraska's crowd will renew one of my favorite venues in all of college football.
My Pick: Nebraska wins and covers.
Tweener Game: 4:00 pm
#17 Texas A&M Aggies @ Auburn Tigers (-3.5) ESPN
I thought I'd fit in an extra game just for the heck of it. Well, the real reason is that I'm betting on this game as part of my two team parlay for this weekend. Once I saw this weird line come out, I knew I had to hop on it, the Aggies aren't getting much respect from the experts in this one. After the Aggies pass rush led by Myles Garrett dismantled UCLA's vaunted passing attack, A&M jumped into the top 25 and now seem like a sleeper team in the SEC East behind Alabama and Ole Miss. Auburn on the other hand nearly knocked off a top 5 team to start the year in Clemson, but Auburn looked quite anemic on offense which makes me feel quite good about betting on the road dog in this contest. My logic is this, if A&M's pass rush can tear apart a talented offense like UCLA's, they should be able to do the same against anemic, Auburn. I expect Auburn to keep this one close, we'll see if A&M QB Trevor "Katy Perry Wants To Call Me" Knight can turn this one into a rout.
Just keep an eye on this one while the big 4:30 games are going on, just for the fact that this is such an interesting game and an interesting line.

4:30 slot
#3 Ohio State Buckeyes (-1.0) @ #14 Oklahoma Sooners FOX
So many great games in this slot, but don't get cheeky on me, this is the game to watch and it's bound to be a historical game in the sense that these two traditional powerhouses are squaring off in a game that can slingshot the Sooners back into the college football playoff after a week one loss to the upstart, Houston Cougars. This is the other game of my two team parlay as I'm rolling with the Buckeyes since Urban Meyer's road record is too good not to pass up. The line I got was -3.0 in favor of Ohio State but I'm still quite confident that JT Barrett and the Buckeyes will outscore Baker Mayfield and the Sooners over that margin. This game has it all, great traditions, the recognizable fight songs like Boomer Sooner and the Best Damn Band in the Land's Buckeye Battle Cry, and even Jim Ross on the sideline supporting his Sooners
The question for this game will be if Oklahoma can find a rhythm that they weren't able to find against Houston, Oklahoma could be game for an upset. That will be tough against this stacked Ohio State team and I think the Buckeyes will just be too good for the Sooners.
This game is also great because it pits two of the coaching icons in college football of the 21st Century in Bob Stoops vs Urban Meyer.
My Pick: Ohio State wins by two touchdowns and completes my parlay.
Backup Plan: #12 Michigan State Spartans @ #18 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-7.0) NBC
This is a classic rivalry that plays for the Megaphone Trophy. And this rivalry has produced a lot of great moments in recent memory, including Michigan State planting their flag on Notre Dame's field after a win, a fake field goal, walk-off touchdown that led to Michigan State's Mark Dantonio having a heart attack that made a Notre Dame radio personality say that God was responsible. This is what college football is all about.
We'll find out if Notre Dame is as overhyped as they often are. There's no reason for Brian Kelly's squad to lose this game in front of Touchdown Jesus. Either way, expect a game that will go down to the wire. It's just a shame this can only be the backup game.
My Pick: Spartans win.
Pac-12 After Dark Slot 7:30 pm: #11 Texas Longhorns (-7.0) @ California Golden Bears ESPN
Another shootout occupies the Pac-12 After Dark slot and once again, Cal is the team that is in the thick of the craziness. The over/under is 82 and the experts have indicated that the total is a more intriguing bet than the point spread. I thought about betting on the Longhorns but decided against it because I think my own personal bias is too down on Cal, and the spread is overrating Texas who beat a Notre Dame team that I'm not convinced is that good. Moral of the story: expect a huge score.
Cal has nothing on defense except a bunch of traffic cones on defense, while Texas has some talent on defense that's still coming together. All the talent is on the offensive side of the ball. True freshman quarterback, Shane Buechele leads the Longhorns and has already seemingly mastered the learning curve in his first couple games. Whenever there's a short yardage situation, look out for their big backup QB Tyrone Swoopes who runs the package known as the 18 wheeler package that left Notre Dame a victim.
For Cal, Davis Webb is a graduate transfer quarterback from Texas Tech and he's already putting up big numbers in Sonny Dykes' Bear Raid offense. He's got a lot talent at wide receiver to work with in guys like Chad Hansen, Demetris Robinson, and Maurice Stovall, the latter of those two are true freshmen. Cal has a large stable of running backs but the problem with Sonny Dykes' offense is that often these talented running backs aren't utilized properly.
My Pick: Texas by 17.
Backup Plan: UCLA Bruins (-3.0) @ BYU Cougars ESPN2
Just in case the Longhorns open up a can of whoop-ass on Cal, there's a chance to watch Josh Rosen get things right. I'm already a little burned out on Josh Rosen's hype and his press clippings but there's no denying his talent, BYU is always a game that's a tough one so this should be competitive. BYU is looking to go two out of three against the Pac-12 South as they just split their games against Arizona and Utah. The Pac-12 South has looked bad early on in this season, so UCLA will try to salvage a little bit of pride.

College Football Week 2 Guide
It's hard to follow up the weekend that has been proclaimed as the "greatest weekend in College Football History," but week two has to try and there aren't a lot of great matchups in what is pretty much a sandwich week between an already fantastic week one, and potentially a great week three. Week two features no matchups between ranked teams, so I'd just keep track of the scores and see if any of the ranked teams sleepwalk through their "tune-up games."
9:00 AM Slot
Penn State Nittany Lions @ Pittsburgh Panthers (-4.0) ESPN
Here's a nice little treat to start the day, these teams used to play each other every year from 1935-1992 and reportedly, Penn State fans bought up Pittsburgh football ticket packages just to make sure they could attend this game at Heinz Field. It also happens to be one of the few games that feature a betting line that is under 10 points with Pitt being favored by four. For Penn State, look out for the best running back in Big Ten in Saquon Barkley who runs a 4.38, he's only a true sophomore so he won't be heading to the NFL Draft until 2018 but he should be a fun matchup against the Pitt defense. Pitt themselves have two solid running backs to keep an eye on in James Conner and Quadree Ollison . James Conner's story is especially remarkable for his bout with cancer and how he has been able ot return to the football field. The atmosphere should be a fun one and should be the perfect start to your Saturday.
My Pick: Penn State to win.
Usually, I would put in what would be a good backup plan but it's pretty hard to pick one out for the 9:00 AM slot. If all else fails, check out ESPN2 to see if Wyoming can do something against Nebraska in Lincoln.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers @ #1 Alabama Crimson Tide (-28.0) ESPN2
Usually, I wouldn't feature a game that where a team is favored by 28 points but this is a pretty tough time slot for this slate of games. I think WKU could give Alabama some problems especially since they can score a lot of points. This will be a possible look ahead game for the Tide as next week they'll head to Oxford to try and get revenge on Ole Miss and we'll see if this the game where Nick Saban decides on a quarterback. Last week, Jalen Hurts torched USC through the air and on the ground proving that the bench has no room for his talent. Then in mop up duty, Blake Barnett came in and continued to torch USC's defense. One's a standard pocket passer, the other is a dual threat and that storyline should be a fun one. No matter who's the QB, they will all get to throw to a ridiculous WR corp that has NFL talent all over in Calvin Ridley, ArDarius Stewart, and Gehrig Dieter. The stacked Alabama secondary will be tested against WKU's passing attack, but Alabama should still take care of business.
My Pick: Alabama covers late.
Backup: Kentucky Wildcats @ Florida Gators (-16.0) CBS
I've been hating on Florida's chances all off-season and it wouldn't shock me if Kentucky pulled off the stunner in The Swamp. Kentucky looked dominant at first in their first game against Southern Miss but then their former offensive coordinator, Shannon Dawson, embarrassed his former school with 35 unanswered to give the Golden Eagles a 44-35 win over Kentucky. That result has made this betting line a bit lengthier so I think it should be an interesting one. We'll see how Florida QB Luke Del Rio does against Kentucky's defense that looked like a leaky faucet the week before.
My Pick: Florida wins and fails to cover.

After a lackluster start to the day, some of the better games should take fold in the late evening-primetime slot. After Arkansas barely squeaked by Louisiana Tech last week, a great opportunity will be right in front of them as they head to Fort Worth to take on the exploding eye frogs (no seriously, Horned Frogs do that). SEC fans will hope that the Razorbacks can pull off the upset and prove that the SEC is far from meh this year. Like every football game, this one will be one in the trenches as the Razorbacks offensive line will have their hands full with a stacked TCU defensive line. If they can give Austin Allen enough time to throw, Arkansas has a chance to pull of the upset on Gary Patterson's boys.
My Pick: TCU covers.
NO BACKUP. Don't watch Mississippi State/South Carolina, that's going to be a 13-10 garbage game, if anything just bet the under for that game and laugh all the way to the bank.

Virginia Tech Hokies vs #17 Tennesee Volunteers (-11.5) at Bristol Motor Speedway ABC
It will be the biggest crowd to ever watch a college football game. There will be 150,000 people at this game and just for that alone, this one is a must watch. For a whole year, a large crew has been transforming this NASCAR racetrack into a college football venue and the process has been fun to watch. I would love to see the beer sales for this matchup as it will insane. On the football field, Tennessee will try to make everyone forget about the fact that they nearly lost in OT to Appalachian State last week and getting an impressive win here will be the first step. In order to do that, they'll need their QB Josh Dobbs to play a whole lot better than he did last week as that will be the key to their offense who has a tremendous stable of running backs.
My Pick: Tennessee Covers.

I have no faith in Cal's defense but I love their ability to score points, San Diego State has a more well-rounded team, and I'm going to keep picking against Cal in big games until they prove me otherwise. This game should also blow away the O/U of 61.

Virginia Cavaliers @ #24 Oregon Ducks (-24.0) ESPN
I'm not sure if this is anything worth paying attention to, but you never know with these Pac-12 After Dark games. I expect Oregon's running back, Royce Freeman to run all over Virginia but you never know, since Oregon didn't look all that great last week against UC Davis. Should be a fun night cap to end the day with these three games.

If only they moved one of the evening games to the 12:30 slot, but what can you do? Not every weekend can be like last weekend. If I had to pick a plan for this Saturday, I would get myself to a television at 4:00 PM and watch all the night games, nothing that's a must watch before then.
